Support our Dragon Boat team and GOSH
MFB are very excited to be taking part in the OSCAR Dragon Boat Race for the first time. The event happens at Docklands in September and we're looking forward to helping raise funds for the OSCAR campaign. So far we have most of a team, with absolutely no experience of rowing a dragon boat together. We do however have a very serious competitive streak, heartfelt support for the very worthy cause and a former world cup competitor from a completely different sport, so it's bound to go swimmingly!
The OSCAR campaign (The Ocean and Shipping Community Advancing Children's Health and Research) is an innovative fundraising partnership uniting the international shipping community to raise funds at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) and the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health (ICH).
The annual dragon boat race has already raised over £850,000 towards the total raised by the OSCAR Campaign. 25 teams compete against one other and the top six teams battle it out in a final. There is a bar, food, quayside games and activities and a DJ to get everyone in the mood. And this year there will also be a classic car show as part of the event.
