Baris was made partner in 2023. He joined MFB in 2018, having qualified at another specialist shipping firm in London in 2015. Prior to qualifying as a solicitor, he was called to the Bar by Middle Temple and worked at the United Nations in Geneva.

Baris graduated from Warwick University with a degree in law and obtained an LLM in Maritime Law from University College London.

He specialises in shipping and trading disputes. He has experience in a wide range of cases including commodities, charterparty, bill of lading and vessel sale & purchase disputes.

He acts for ship-owners, charterers, commodity traders, brokers and P&I Clubs in London and international arbitrations, English Courts, and mediations.

His dedicated and pragmatic approach, focusing on the clients’ ultimate goal and best interests, is widely appreciated.

He has a particular focus on the Turkish market and is a native Turkish speaker.

Baris is a supporting member of the LMAA.
