Charlie specialises in advising on and handling maritime disputes.

He joined MFB in September 2020, having spent nine years working for another leading shipping firm, six months of which was spent in its Piraeus office.

Charlie works closely with ship owners, operators and charterers and their P&I Clubs across a wide range of P&I and FD&D matters. He regularly handles disputes and advises clients on complex issues relating to charterparties, bills of lading, marine insurance, vessel sale and purchase, shipbuilding contracts, shipmanagement agreements and vessel arrests. Charlie has worked on several cases before the High Court and in numerous arbitrations, including recent successful arbitration awards on disputes relating to off-hire, laytime and demurrage, hire and withdrawal and issues arising under the Inter-Club Agreement.

He is a regular speaker on maritime legal issues and has given talks to P&I Clubs and ship owners on issues including redelivery, unsafe ports, letters of indemnity, Mississippi River issues and voyage charterparties.

He has particular industry contacts in Italy, Monaco and Ukraine.
