Daniel has extensive experience in marine insurance and litigation matters, acting for insurers, vessel owners, charterers and other stakeholders in the maritime industry. He holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Maritime Law and is a Supporting Member of the London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA).

Daniel predominantly acts in disputes involving smaller tonnage vessels such as workboats, fishing vessels, commercial barges and yachts covering a range of issues, including:

  • Marine insurance disputes, including subrogated recoveries, liability and coverage issues

  • Charterparty disputes, with particular expertise in superyacht charters

  • Cargo claims under bills of lading and contracts of carriage

  • Admiralty matters, including collisions and limitation of liability

He has acted in significant reported cases, including:

  • Holyhead Marina v Farrer and others [2021] EWCA Civ 1585

  • Zurich Insurance Company Limited & Ors v Halcyon Yacht Charter LLP & Ors [2024] EWHC 937 (Admlty) (THE BIG KAHUNA)

Daniel is recommended by The Legal 500 2026 for being “an extremely calm and level-headed partner. He is very commercially focused and takes a genuine practical approach to handling matters,” while Chambers 2026 describes him as “very good – very commercial but also kind and empathetic to his client.”
