Jonathan studied law at University of Birmingham. He joined MFB in 2011, having previously practised for 6 years in the shipping department of another City of London firm. He became a partner at MFB in June 2016.

Jonathan specialises in shipping and commercial dispute resolution across a variety of sectors including dry bulk, tanker and container lines.

He has handled a wide variety of disputes in court (at first instance or in appeal proceedings), and in LCIA/LMAA arbitrations.

On the chartering and trading side he acts for shipowners, charterers, cargo interests and their insurers in relation to the full range of charterparty, COA, bill of lading, sale of goods and ship sale and purchase disputes. Jonathan also has significant experience representing clients in complex and high-value shipbuilding disputes.

On the non-contentious side Jonathan has extensive experience reviewing and drafting/amending contracts, in particular charterparty and COA clauses.
