Peter read Law at the University of Southampton in conjunction with the Université de Nantes where he was runner-up in the Law School's annual Concours de Plaidoirie (2000). He obtained his LLB (Hons) in 2001, his LLM (Maritime Law) the following year and trained with a boutique City of London shipping practice before joining MFB in 2007.

Peter has experience in all aspects of dry shipping litigation, with disputes arising predominantly from COAs, time and voyage charters and bills of lading. He acts for owners and charterers and their respective insurers, petrochemical and energy traders, and commodity houses.

Peter has particular experience in cases involving the IMSBC Code, cargo damage including associated damage to holds, crane bearing failures/jib collapse, groundings, allisions, general average, FFA and loan finance agreement defaults, and consideration of international sanctions.

Peter also has a special interest in international trade including matters resolved through GAFTA/FOSFA adjudication, as well as piracy and AWRP disputes.
The vast majority of Peter’s work is conducted through LMAA arbitration, mediation or before the Commercial Court. 

Peter is a Supporting Member of the LMAA. He speaks French and Spanish and is happy to review documents and/or to receive initial instructions in those languages without translation.
